Levowitz (http://www.adamlevowitz.com) and book filled with wit and charm by and Houston based playwright Ashley Whitrock. This modern day Gilbert and Sullivan collaborating from different time zones, but unlike the infamous hate/hate relationship of the 19th century between G & S, L & W are good friends who have collaborated on a variety of projects including “Here’s Looking At You, Kid”, a not-yet-produced musicalization of the classic film Casablanca. And yes, the two dared to replace “As Time Goes By” with their own modern day classic with the title song.

Based on the real life story of Drew Brown III, Buddy Drew – The Musical is a coming-of-age tale about a black kid from Harlem raised by his white, Jewish grandparents in Brighton Beach right smack dab in the middle of the prize fight known as the Civil Rights Movement. His black father, Bundini Brown, a street hustler from Harlem and also the corner man for the heavyweight champion of the world Muhammad Ali, married Rhoda Palestine, a nice Jewish girl from Brooklyn who reveled in the sights and sounds of the Harlem nightlife that Bundini reigned over. Together they made history and Drew Brown III. The three of them – Bundini, Rhoda and Buddy Drew – form a dysfunctional yet poignant love triangle with Bundini at the apex. And according to Buddy Drew, “to be loved by Bundini was like an addiction. Once you had it, you wanted it all to yourself. “

Growing up with a life as shaky as a yarmulke on an Afro, Buddy Drew must contend with an absentee father who spent the better part of his life fostering the career, affection and respect of his “other” son, Muhammad Ali. Buddy Drew finds himself sparing with the world’s greatest boxer for the love of Bundini. Like many father/son, love/hate relationships, Buddy Drew searches for his own identity and when is finally able to forgive, though he can never forget, fulfills his destiny prophesied at his own Bar Mitzvah speech and himself

becomes a Real Drew. And today he is a man.

On August 8, 2012, Buddy Drew – The Musical will be presented in concert-version at the Harris Pavilion in Manassas, Va. (harrispavilion.com) as part of that organization’s outdoor summer concert series. For the remainder of 2012 and into 2013 the musical will undergo

rewrites as needed gearing up for a 12 week run in the theater district of Houston, Texas and/or Philadelphia and from there, if Buddy Drew – The Man OR Musical has his way (and he always does)… BROADWAY.

This is not a Jewish musical like Fiddler on the Roof, or a black musical like The Wiz, but an American musical because as Buddy Drew will tell you: “I am not an African American! I am not an African American! I am not an African American! I am an American who happens to be black and Jewish and I keep Kosher and I eat pork rinds.”

Social networks and the Romantic Revival in Belize

Social networks and the Romantic Revival in Belize

(PRWEB) November 01, 2011

The well-publicized Belizean honeymoon of Bachelorette star DeAnna Pappas and Steven Stagliano represents two emerging trends in travel – romance adventure and social networking word of mouth – according to a major Belizean resort’s marketing administrator.

And, as this recent example shows, the two trends are often linked.

Chaa Creek’s marketing administrator Larry Waight said that the eco resort has seen a rise in what it calls “romance adventure packages”, where couples opt to mix their celebrations with tropical adventures such as exploring Maya temples and archaeology sites, diving the Caribbean and Belize Barrier Reef, canoeing jungle rivers, horseback or mountain bike excursions and other activities.

“Of course, the emphasis is still on relaxation and spending that special time together,” he said.

Mr Waight said that an interesting aspect of this trend has been the use of social media to spread positive word of mouth.

“This allows family and friends to share in the experience while also promoting off the beaten track places like Belize through online networking,” Mr Waight said, pointing to the current publicity the Pappas Stagliano honeymoon is receiving through the couple’s use of Twitter.

“I’m having coffee with my husband overlooking the ocean feeling so truly blessed!” the new Mrs Stagliano tweeted, following her new husband’s tweet of, “You better Belize it!”

The couple were married in DeAnna Pappas’ home state of Georgia on October 22 before heading off to Belize for their honeymoon, keeping their fans abreast of their whereabouts and activities through tweets such as, “We beat out (Hurricane) Rina! It’s gorgeous here today!” and, “We just finished our couples massage on our private dock ooohhh lala!”

“It’s an interesting phenomenon. We’re seeing more couples choosing Chaa Creek wedding packages that offer options like exchanging vows in ancient Maya ceremonial spots, or Belize honeymoon packages that combine rainforest experiences with Caribbean beach holidays. We then realised that these are also the kind of people who tend to use social media quite a bit.

“It means that we’re getting more adventurous people who really enjoy what we have to offer and then spreading positive word of mouth through their social media. This is good news for more off-the beaten track locations such as Belize that offer something special. It also means that we’re being promoted in the best possible way – by happy customers.

“It’s great to be attracting a new kind of traveling romantic and having them tell the world about it,” Mr Waight said.

New Collection of Men’s Ceramic Wedding Rings and Black Seranite Wedding Bands by JustMensRings.com

New Collection of Men’s Ceramic Wedding Rings and Black Seranite Wedding Bands by JustMensRings.com

Men’s Black Serenite Wedding Ring

Jensen Beach, FL (PRWEB) October 25, 2011

As a leading online retailer specializing in men’s designer rings, fashion rings, wedding bands and jewelry, JustMensRings.com is pleased to introduce this new collection of men’s alternative wedding rings. With a growing customer base in the U.S. and around the world, JustMensRings.com has grown to become a premier destination for buying men’s jewelry on the Internet. The company attributes this success to their continuously updated collections of designer, traditional and alternative rings at competitive prices.

Known throughout the industry as one of the first major online retailers to expand its industrial metals collections, JMR is always looking for the latest styles, particularly in the alternative rings segment. This exciting new category of men’s jewelry has grown considerably over the past 2 to 3 years, and has grown to include ceramic rings, as well as cobalt, titanium, stainless steel and tungsten carbide. The rising popularity of black rings has created additional demand for men’s ceramic wedding bands, but JMR is very discriminating when choosing new inventory. Their new collection of men’s black wedding rings is made by a top designer from a revolutionary ceramic material known as Seranite.

Extremely lustrous and strong, seranite is created using a proprietary formula that is ceramic-based and highly scratch resistant. As a result, it looks much glossier than traditional black metals like tungsten and stainless steel. Men’s seranite rings are one of the jewelry industry’s hottest new trends because the color goes all the way through. It is also lighter on the hand than dense metals like tungsten and much more comfortable for long-term wear, making this naturally black ceramic material irresistible.

Unlike some other black metals, men’s seranite wedding rings are made from a ceramic-based material that will not scratch, fade or discolor. It also retains its luminous shine for years to come. JustMensRings.com conducts thorough research before adding a new ring collection to their inventory, and they’ve found that few other black designer ring collections offer the quality and style of these men’s ceramic wedding bands. That’s why these new seranite rings are so exciting to JMR’s customers.

“We are always hearing from customers all over the country and we learn a lot about what’s ‘hot’ in men’s wedding rings. If there is one thing we’ve learned over the past six to eight months, it’s that men’s black ceramic wedding rings are ‘very hot’!” says co-owner JustMensRings, Roy Devine.

After just five years in business, JustMensRings.com has become an established “expert” in a variety of metals and styles of wedding rings, but especially alternative metals like tungsten, cobalt, titanium and stainless steel. The addition of men’s seranite ceramic wedding bands adds yet another dimension to their already expansive selection of unique and alternative rings. JMR is pleased to introduce this designer collection of men’s black wedding bands, just in time for the holiday shopping season.

About JustMensRings:

As an Internet-only retailer, JustMensRings.com is dedicated to providing a simple and secure online shopping experience. This is one site where customers know they are getting the best possible prices on an extraordinary selection of men’s rings. JMR’s customers have come to expect high standards of service, selection and quality when they shop at JustMensRings.com. In fact, Just Men’s Rings (http://www.JustMensRings.com) now offers the largest selection of men’s fashion rings on the Internet, and they are the only store in the U.S. that offers men’s large size rings through size 20. They also lead their competitors with an unparalleled assortment of unique and alternative men’s wedding rings, and JMR is known for their very low prices on men’s gold rings. Despite the recent rise in gold prices, JMR keeps their prices low and affordable, and shoppers won’t find better prices on gold, silver, tungsten, titanium and other popular metals.

Announcing Argentium Silver Wedding Bands ? Brighter, Tarnish-Resistant Silver Now Available at Mens-Wedding-Rings.com

Announcing Argentium Silver Wedding Bands – Brighter, Tarnish-Resistant Silver Now Available at Mens-Wedding-Rings.com

Mens Argentium Silver Diamond Wedding Band

Jensen Beach, Fl (PRWEB) October 26, 2011

After launching just over a year ago, Mens-Wedding-Rings.com (MWR) has emerged as one of the foremost online resources for mens wedding rings. One major reason for this early success is the dedication of owners Roy and Judy Devine, who are constantly adding new ring collections and alternative metals to their expansive inventory.

Now among the best known retail marketers in mens jewelry, MWR is pleased to add an extraordinary new collection of silver wedding bands. The announcement of this new collection of Argentium silver wedding bands is certain to generate an even larger customer base for MWR. As this niche retailer continues to build a loyal customer base, they are attracting attention from wedding consultants who advise their clients to shop here for the best selection.

Over the past few years, studies have shown that nearly half of all major purchases are researched first on the Internet. This has allowed more couples to consider purchasing wedding rings online instead of visiting a local jeweler. Silver wedding bands have also become much more prevalent in designer collections, particularly when the rings are made from tarnish-resistant Argentium silver.

Made with a higher concentration of pure silver that is alloyed with copper, these designer silver wedding bands are 93.5 percent pure, which is purer than traditional sterling. As a result, Argentium silver more closely resembles the natural color of pure silver without the need for plating. Brighter than white gold, platinum and traditional sterling, Argentium is the whitest metal of them all. In addition to these new silver wedding rings, MWR offers an endless selection of men’s rings in gold, sterling silver, platinum, tungsten, titanium, cobalt, palladium and seranite.

Argentium silver wedding bands are just one reason that Mens-Wedding-Rings (MWR) is excited about the upcoming holiday season. After celebrating their first anniversary last month, MWR has added numerous new designer collections to their already impressive inventory. Now, in addition to their expansive collections of rings in gold, sterling silver, titanium, tungsten, cobalt, palladium and platinum, this new designer collection of Argentium Silver bands is a part of MWR’s designer selection. The unparalleled selection and prices at Mens-Wedding-Rings.com have attracted many new customers to the site, but it is the customer service and the quality of their products that keeps MWR’s customers happy.

About Mens-Wedding-Rings:

Mens-Wedding-Rings.com is a niche online jewelry store for mens wedding rings and bands. In this specialized retail environment, customers find the best quality men’s traditional and alternative wedding rings. From major designer bands in traditional and alternative metals to non-designer rings in stainless steel, titanium, tungsten, sterling silver and cobalt, Mens-Wedding-Rings.com is a one-stop source for mens wedding bands and rings. Owners Roy and Judy Devine make it their goal to ensure their customers are completely satisfied, so they only sell high quality rings at excellent prices. All of their rings come with a 100% satisfaction guarantee, and their customers have come to expect the highest standards of service, selection and quality when they shop at Mens-Wedding-Rings.com. MWR offers the best selection of mens wedding rings on the Internet, many of which are available through size 20.

Cancer Patients At St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Win South Jersey Getaways in Latest Giveaway from Laura’s Journeys

Cancer Patients At St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Win South Jersey Getaways in Latest Giveaway from Laura’s Journeys

New York, NY (PRWEB) October 29, 2011

Program encourages and facilitates therapeutic recreational travel for cancer patients.

Two Manhattan residents were selected as winners of seven-night stays at the Marriott Vacation Club Fairway Villas resort near Atlantic City in the latest vacation giveaway by Laura’s Journeys (http://www.laurasjourneys.org), a support program for cancer patients at Continuum Cancer Centers of New York at St. Luke’s and Roosevelt Hospitals in Manhattan and other institutions within the Continuum Health Partners network. The program is designed to encourage and facilitate recreational travel for the patient along with their spouse/partner or other family members/friends.

The winners’ names were drawn from more than 75 entrants, all currently undergoing treatment for cancer, during a raffle last month in the hospital’s infusion suite.

Both winners received weeklong stays this fall in two-bedroom units at the Marriott Vacation Club Fairway Villas resort in Galloway Township, N.J., donated by Marriott timeshare owners Laurie and Clark Nardinelli of Laurel, MD. Laura’s Journeys also awarded the winners American Express gift checks to cover the cost of meals, activities and sightseeing.

The winners will be able to enjoy all activities at this golf and tennis resort, including an indoor pool, gym, Elizabeth Arden Red Door spa, and movies, as well as visits to Atlantic City’s boardwalk and casinos, and day trips to nearby attractions such as Cape May, Renault Winery, Smithville Village, Tuckerton Seaport, and Long Beach Island.

The grand prize winner, Gerolyn Martinez, a 31-year-old employee in the admissions office at Teachers College at Columbia University, will travel with her husband. “We’ve been battling this thing for so long and haven’t had a break or a vacation since,” said Ms. Martinez. “This trip will allow us to take our minds off of things.” Ms. Martinez added that she and her husband, who were married just five months when she was diagnosed with cancer, plan on combining the trip with a celebration of their upcoming second wedding anniversary. The second prize winner, Kelly Chisolm, 70, will be traveling to the resort with his family. Both winners live in upper Manhattan.

Laura’s Journeys was created by Aberdeen, N.J. resident Bill Parness in memory of his wife Laura, who passed away in November 2008 at the age of 54 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. He developed the program based on the therapeutic benefits he and Laura derived from their extensive travels during the six years she was being treated for advanced breast cancer. “The rewards Laura and I received from traveling during those years are just too numerous to mention,” said Mr. Parness. “Beyond the sheer pleasure of traveling, Laura always came home feeling refreshed and ready to tackle her next treatments.”

He added: “We are very grateful to Laurie and Clark Nardinelli for their very generous donations of Marriott Vacation Club timeshare weeks to our program. With these latest trips, three patients and their families will have visited Marriott properties in New Jersey and Florida this year for week-long stays donated by Clark and Laurie, who was a dear friend of Laura. Through her conversations with Laura during the years she was being treated, Laurie was well aware of the restorative powers of our journeys. This is such a meaningful way to honor Laura’s memory.”

Since the program’s inception in fall 2009, Laura’s Journeys has now awarded 20 vacations and weekend getaways to chemotherapy and radiation therapy patients. These have included one-week cruises to various parts of the Caribbean and New England/Canada; a one-week trip to Athens, Greece; one-week stays in Merritt Island and Palm Beach Shores, Fla.; and weekend getaways to the Berkshire Mountains in Massachusetts and Atlantic City.

Laura Parness was a patient of Gabriel A. Sara, M.D., Medical Director of the Chemotherapy Infusion Suite and Executive Director of the Patient Services Initiative at Continuum Cancer Centers of New York, located at Roosevelt Hospital. Dr. Sara is a strong advocate for therapeutic travel for his patients.

“Over my many years of practice, I have come to believe that there are therapeutic benefits to traveling while undergoing treatment for cancer,” said Dr. Sara. “No matter what the duration, planning a trip gives patients something to look forward to and provides a vitally important psychological lift from grappling with the day-to-day issues associated with cancer. I especially enjoy hearing stories of my patients’ trips, seeing their photos and, more than anything, seeing their smiling faces as they felt revitalized and happy. After their trip they continue to remember the beautiful moments they had and know that they can do it again.”

In addition to trip giveaways, “Laura’s Journeys” offers tips for traveling while undergoing treatment for cancer.
